  • Midwives and Doulas have very different, and unique roles in Birth.

A Midwife is a licensed medical professionals, who provides clinical care for the mom and baby in all medical aspects of the pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Midwives are trained to monitor the health of mom and baby, order & draw labs, perform exams, attend the birth as the Primary Care Provider as well as, provide Postpartum and Newborn care.

Midwives are qualified to deliver babies and manage low risk pregnancies, as well as recognize when medical consultation or transfer of care are needed.

Beyond medical training, midwives are known for their deep commitment to physiological birth, informed choice, and continuity of care.

Many families choose Midwifery care because it offers longer appointments, individualized attention, and a holistic approach.

A doula is a non-medical support person, who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor and birth.

Doulas do not provide medical care, perform exams, or deliver babies. Their crucial role is to offer comfort measures, advocacy, education, and reassurance.

Doula’s help families feel satisfied, supported and empowered throughout the pregnancy, birth & postpartum experience.

Midwives and Doula’s often work in the same space, providing complementary care that supports both the medical and emotional needs of the Birthing Family.
